Dataset for: Selected Phytophthora infestans isolates from Guatemala and Honduras

This database contains information on a carefully selected set of 237 Phytophthora infestans isolates from Guatemala and Honduras, along with 6 isolates used as clonal lineage references. These isolates were collected in FTA and the DNA was analyzed at CIP studying their phenotypic traits (such as mating type), and genotypic characteristics (including mtDNA, and SSR alleles) of the isolates. Understanding the structure of the P. infestans population is crucial for managing the disease effectively. This understanding aids in comprehending the diversity and distribution of the pathogen, as well as its correlation with potato production in Guatemala and Honduras. Furthermore, it serves as a foundational element in monitoring changes within P. infestans populations and assessing the associated risks for potato cultivation, especially under the influence of global warming.
