Research Instruments for Evaluation of ShakeAlert Video

This project is a dual-language (English/Spanish) evaluation of an educational video about ShakeAlert Earthquake Early Warning. The video was developed in English and Spanish and designed to introduce public audiences to ShakeAlert, including how it works and how to respond to an alert. This study used surveys and interviews in both English and Spanish to assess the effectiveness of the video, with a focus on understandability, enjoyability, and impact on viewers' intended behaviors related to earthquake early warning. Materials included in this project library may be of particular use to researchers who: a) are focused on hazards education/communication, b) are evaluating video or media-based communications, and/or c) are designing multilingual research projects.
