This metadata entry refers to measurements of atmospheric and oceanic isoprene made by Wendy Broadgate; atmospheric methane; atmospheric and oceanic nitrous oxide; atmospheric and oceanic carbon monoxide during the RRS Challenger 129 research cruise in the southern North Sea as part of the Atmospheric Chemistry Studies in the Oceanic Environment (ACSOE). The cruise began on 16th October 1996 and ended on 31st October 1996 with the spatial coverage of +52N and +53N latitude and +2E and +4E longitude.
The data set consists of:
-93 measurements of the concentration of 2-methyl-1,3-butadiene (isoprene) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase) by purging, cryogenic trapping and gas chromatography; and
-13 measurements of the concentration (v/v) of 2-methyl-1,3-butadiene (isoprene) per unit volume of the atmosphere (gaseous phase) by gas chromatography-flame ionisation detection.
