To compare key and effective genes in the biosynthesis of fatty acids, two Iranian cultivars, Mari and Shengeh, were selected and the genes involved in fatty acid biosynthesis were analyzed at 150 days after flowering. The Gas chromatography results showed that the percentage of mesocarp oleic acid in the Mari was higher than the Shengeh and the percentage of linoleic acid in the Mari cultivar was lower than the Shengeh. In the present study, 25 key and effective genes in the biosynthesis of fatty acids were identified in Mari and Shengeh cultivars.
