COLOUR CONCEPT IN THE UZBEK LANGUAGE AND ITS LINGUACULTURAL CHARACTERISTICS

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the linguistic and cultural characteristics of color terms—coloronyms in the Uzbek language. It first defines the term coloronym and distinguishes it from related concepts. The study reviews the development of color linguistics in global linguistics and examines relevant research within Uzbek linguistics. The semantic, cognitive, psychological, linguocultural, and metaphorical features of coloronyms are analyzed in depth. The role of color-based linguistic units in Uzbek linguoculture is illustrated through examples found in folk proverbs, phraseological units, riddles, myths, legends, and onomastic elements. The article aims to identify how coloronyms in Uzbek are not only lexical units but also reflect the worldview, values, and cultural perceptions of the people. Historical, symbolic, and figurative meanings of colors, as well as their associations with traditional beliefs, are explored through examples. The study employs descriptive, comparative, and differential analysis methods. Although the concept of color has been studied from various aspects in Uzbek linguistics, its linguocultural features have not been examined monographically, which underlines the relevance of this topic.
