Screening of predictive indicators for the efficacy of gefitinib against esophageal cancer

Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) was highly expressed in esophageal cancer (EC) and was related to poor prognosis. Gefitinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor of EGFR, and its inhibitory activity on different esophageal cancer cells varied greatly both in vitro and in vivo. This study performed the transcriptome sequencing on gefitinib sensitive KYSE450 and resistant EC9706 xenografts, with the aim of screening biomarkers for predicting the efficacy of gefitinib in the treatment of esophageal cancer.
