Preferred food difference by the gender: observation

This data set was collected based on observation only, to test the hypothesis that food preference vary between the gender. Observations were done in every Thursday of each week through September 24 to October 15, 2015, and pilot sampling was performed on the week of September 24. Each members of the group were assigned either fast food restaurant selling processed food, or health food restaurant selling natural foods. Both fast food and health food restaurants were picked within the vicinity of York lanes and Student centre in York University Keele campus. The group chose Wendy’s, Popeyes, and Hero Burger as fast food restaurants, and chose Bistro, La Prep, Barries and Bloom as health food restaurants based on their menu and visual observations. From 2:45pm to 3:45pm, each members of the group were assigned randomly to a restaurant listed, and recorded the numbers of males and females buying food without any direct or indirect contact with the visitors of the restaurants. Between 3:50 to 4:50, members were grouped in pairs and randomly assigned two restaurants, also recording the numbers of males and females. The defining of gender of the visitors were based on visual analyses such as face, hair, body shape, and clothing. Each members were assigned to the restaurants which they were not assigned before to minimize observer bias for the remaining sampling period. After the observation the group got together and recorded the data collected for each weeks.
