We aim to establish an efficient method for sequencing the whole genome of historical lichen specimens. The DNA extracted from specimens of 75-year-old Usnea hakonensis was sequenced and the reads were aligned to the reference genome of the fungal partner (mycobiont) and the algal partner (photobiont).
