IMOS - AUV SIRIUS, CAMPAIGN: St Joseph Banks, JUNE 2008

AUV Sirius (IMOS Platform code: SIRIUS) surveyed benthic habitats around the Sir Joseph Banks Island group in South Australia during June 2008 as part of an IMOS-funded research effort led by the Department of Environment and Heritage South Australia (DEH SA). \n\nThe island group is being considered for the establishment of a marine park and the objective of the cruise was to document the surrounding benthic habitats. The imagery collected by the AUV will be used to validate habitat assessment to be made with sidescan sonar surveys.\n\nData for this campaign will soon be available.

“天狼星”号自主水下航行器（Autonomous Underwater Vehicle，简称AUV，IMOS平台编号：SIRIUS）于2008年6月在澳大利亚南部约瑟夫·班克斯群岛周边海域开展底栖生境勘测工作，本次作业由南澳环境与遗产部（Department of Environment and Heritage South Australia，简称DEH SA）主导，为澳大利亚海洋综合观测系统（Integrated Marine Observing System，简称IMOS）资助的研究项目的组成部分。

该群岛目前正被纳入海洋公园设立的候选范围，本次科考航次的核心目标为记录其周边的底栖生境。本次AUV采集的影像数据，将用于验证后续通过侧扫声呐勘测生成的生境评估结果。
