This study investigates the relationship between rhythmicity processing and speech processing by analyzing neural responses to temporal deviations in both speech and music domains. Using electroencephalography (EEG), we compare brain responses to temporal deviations in natural speech (time-shifted syllables) and beat sequences (deviant beats) across 40 adults. Participants completed alternating speech-hearing and beat-perception tasks, with speech stimuli containing temporal shifted syllables, and beat sequences incorporating analogous temporal deviations. Both tasks employed an oddball paradigm to elicit mismatch responses to rhythmic irregularities. Neural activity was recorded via a 32-electrode EEG system, focusing on ERP components linked to temporal prediction errors.
