LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA: Mount Isa City Council LOCATION: The resource is located 3 kilometres north-northeast of Mount Isa, northwest Queensland (see map KRA 137). EXTRACTIVE RESOURCE: Quarry Rock EXTRACTIVE RESOURCE DESCRIPTION: The hard rock resource is predominantly quartzite with a high silica content. There is a significant amount of rock in the sales permit area issued under the Forestry Act 1959 with the resource/processing area measuring over 12 square kilometres. SIGNIFICANCE: The resource is very large and is capable of supplying material for road and construction projects within the Mount Isa area and surrounding regions. SEPARATION AREA: A separation area of 1000 metres is applied around the resource area as blasting will be necessary. The surrounding land is zoned Rural. TRANSPORT ROUTE: An unsealed road from the quarry enters the Leichhardt River Road, which enters the Barkly Highway on the northern outskirts of Mount Isa.
