Official Administrative Letter of Portugal – CAOP2022 (RAM)

The CAOP records the state of delimitation and demarcation of the administrative districts of the country, i.e. the official boundaries of district, municipality and parish (these limits also correspond to NUTS I, NUTS II and NUTS III, in accordance with Law No 75/2013 of 12 September 2013). Its elaboration and conservation is one of the tasks of the Directorate-General of the Territory, in accordance with the provisions of Article 2(2)(l) of Regulatory Decree No. 30/2012 of 13 March, and the attribution of the unique code of each parish (DICOFRE) is the responsibility of the National Institute of Statistics. The Assembly of the Republic is the body with powers recognised by law to amend and set administrative limits. CAOP 2022 was the result of changes in the administrative limits of parishes/municipalities, as well as changes to parish names, resulting from the publication of several diplomas, published between the date of publication of CAOP2021 and December 2022.
