Bird Conservation Area (SPA)

Natura 2000 is a network of protected areas for the conservation of important European habitats as well as rare animal and plant species. The legal basis of this cross-border nature conservation network is the Birds and Flora Habitat (FFH) Directives of the European Union. In accordance with the provisions of the Birds Directive, each Member State shall designate areas that are important for the conservation of species of birds that are significant in Europe or threatened in the Member State and their habitats.
