资源简介:
Market gardening is an increasingly popular activity around Burkina Fasos major urban centers. However, the agricultural practices of market gardeners, with their use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, raise concerns for human, animal and environmental health. The aim of the present study is to analyze the factors determining the adoption of agroecological practices by market garden producers in urban and rural sites in Burkina Faso. The methodological approach consisted of surveys in four (04) market garden sites: two (02) in urban areas and two (02) in rural areas. The approach was based on a semi-structured questionnaire addressed to market garden producers. The survey was carried out on a sample of 120 market gardeners taken at random from the list of members, i.e. 30 producers/site. Data analysis was carried out using Sphinx Plus2-V5 software. The results showed that farms are smaller in urban than in rural areas. In addition, the level of adoption of agroecological practices was disparate: the crop rotation technique was the most widely adopted (98%) at all sites. Next come animal husbandry (81%), agroforestry (58%), crop association, composting (49%) and fallowing (13%). Determinants of the adoption of these agroecological practices include the high cost of inputs, poor soils and access to training in market gardening. The adoption of agroecological practices by market gardeners depends very strongly on high input costs and poor soils.
