<strong>Data description </strong>| Chick Embryo Segmented Region Length Measurements. <strong>Brief methodology description</strong> | Length measurements were performed in frames from live imaging taken at 3 minute intervals, using Axiovision Se64 Rel 4.9.1 (Carl Zeiss) or Zen 2.5 (blue edition, Carl Zeiss). In each frame, measurements were taken from the anterior border of the first somite until the last completely formed cleft. A somitic cleft was considered completely formed only when it was clearly visible from its axial to lateral limits. We conducted a total of 2836 measurements, corresponding to 13 different chicken embryos, in stages HH7 to HH10 (corresponding to somites 1 to 10), and HH11+ to HH13+ (corresponding to somites 14 to 20).
