Innate immune responses by bronchial epithelial cells exposed to the bacterial component flagellin

RNAseq was used to measure the transciptional respose of human bronchial epithelium (HBE) to the bacterial component flagellin with particular emphasis on innate immunity and metabolism. Overall design: Human bronchial epithelium (HBE) were isolated from 3 volunteers. Each donor's HBE were exposed to flagellin or PBS vehicle. In addition we investigated the effect of rapamycin (mTOR inhibitor) and IOX2 (a selective inhibitor of the HIF-1a prolyl hydroxylase-2).
