Effects of EA on alterations of gut microbiota composition in PD rats based on 16S rRNA data

It turned out that intestinal flora diversity and microbiome composition in rotenone-induced PD rat was significantly changed compared with control. EA treatment significantly decreased Simpson index, Shannon index and ACE index but had no effect on Chao1 index of PD rats. In the beta-diversity analysis depicted significant compositional discriminations inside the gut microbiota across the control, PD, and EA-treated rats. EA regulated the proportion of predominant bacteria in the levels of phyla such as Bacteroidota, Actinobacteriota, Desulfobacterota and Proteobacteria, significantly decreased the relative abundance of various genera including Escherichia-Shigella, Blautia, Faecalibacterium, Roseburia, and Ruminococcus, while remarkably increased Lactobacillus.
