In this study, we have sequenced and analyzed the genome of B. nonstop, analyzed the molecular basis of all three stop codon reassignment, and experimentally proved that shortening of the anticodon stem-loop of the Trp-tRNA allows this tRNA to efficiently decode UGA along with UGG codon, a novel mechanism responsible for stop codon reassignment.
