Mitochondrial genome and transcriptome sequencing of two different Vickermania

We sequenced mitochondrial (kinetoplast) DNA and RNA of Vickermania ingenoplastis CP021 and Vickermania spadyakhi S13 to investigate how difference in kinetoplast DNA (especially the number of detected HL-circle classes) correlates with genome expression, editing and mitochondrial ETC activity. These species have different laboratory cultivation history and show different extent of HL-circle classes loss during the cultivation. The aim of current study was to annotate all editing events in the transcriptome and to locate gRNA genes, that mediate the editing. To highlight the locations of gRNAs we also sequenced smallRNA using appropriate Illumina kits.
