The database is configured with spanish municipal data in the period 2008-2012 with the following variables: Investment. This is a numerical variable which represents capital investment per capita. Fiscal pressure. This is a numerical variable which represents the total of direct and indirect taxes per capita. Unemployment. It is the local unemployment statistics registered in a municipality that is measured by the percentage of the population potentially active. Gender. It is a numeric variable representing the percentage of women councilors, who belong to the municipal council. Electoral turnout. This is a numerical variable, which represents the percentage of participation in the last local elections in the municipality. Political strength. It is a dummy variable given the value of 1 if the municipal party leader is ruling in absolute majority (maximum strength), and 0 otherwise (maximum fragmentation) Capital. Province capital which assumes the value of 1 if the municipality is a provincial capital and 0 otherwise. Year
