Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU), NHERI 2022: Wind Speed Standardization for Project Sentinel

Wind speed measurements are resolved by a 3-axis gill anemometer array under chaotic vibrating conditions using time-resolved tiltmeter measurements. Project Sentinel targets the acquisition of in-situ wind speed measurements from directly coastal (i.e. beach) positions during hurricane landfall. Field researchers may reuse these methods to develop more portable weather stations capable of withstanding storm surge and flooding, such that wind measurements with marine exposure may more effectively be taken during tropical cyclone landfall events.
