Early diversification in Drosophilidae fruit flies (Diptera): a phylogenomic study

Despite the relevance of drosophilid flies as model organisms, uncertainties about the timing and pattern of early diversification of the Drosophilidae family are still commonplace. Here, we have sequenced the genomes of 14 drosophilid species, encompassing most tribes of the subfamilies Drosophilinae and Steganinae. The genomic data was used to infer the species tree and to estimate the dates of the early diversification of Drosophilidae family.
