Heterorhabditis bacteriophora (Nematoda: Heterorhabditidae) is a soil-dwelling, insect parasitic nematode, symbiotically associated with obligate enterobacterium, Photorhabdus luminescens. Together H. bacteriophora and P. luminescens have the ability to kill insects in 24-72 h, making them excellent candidates as biological control agents against soil-dwelling insects. Mit DNA genome data for Heterorhabditis species meagre. We sequenced the complete Mit DNA genome of a native isolate of Heterorhabditis bacteriophora for phylogenetic relationships of different geographic isolates, their biology and population studies.
