Raw sequence reads from calorimetric investigation of nutrient and energy stimulation in the deep continental subsurface. Continental Deep Subsurface

The continental deep subsurface contains microbial life engaged in processes that are difficult to quantify due to low population densities, inactive populations, and enigmatic metabolisms. This study sampled borehole fluids from 6 boreholes between 244 m and 1478 m below the surface of the Earth at the Sanford Underground Research Facility. Borehole fluids were returned to the lab, and here we report the results of amending these borehole fluids with a variety of energy and nutrient sources in order to determine the limiters of microbial activity. Amended borehole samples were introduced to a calorimeter to quantify heat fluxes, as reported in "Calorimetric measurement of energy and nutrient stimulation on microorganisms from the continental deep subsurface".
