This contract involved the analyses of up to 480 periphyton / microalgal samples per funded year. Samples were supplied by various divisions / sections of the South Florida Water Management District (aka SFWMD, the District) and other participants in CERP-RECOVER (e.g. Joel Trexler, Evelynn Gaiser, etc.). Samples were then extracted and pigments separated and identified by the Organic Geochemistry Group (Dr. J. William Louda) at Florida Atlantic University (aka FAU, FAU-OGG). Data was supplied to SFWMD by FAU-OGG as both raw pigment data (e.g. ïg âpigment Xâ cm-2 etc.) and chemotaxonomic (Divisional) estimates of community structure derived from such data.
