A chloroplast genomic dataset for accurate identification of the endangered Lagerstroemia minuticarpa Debb. ex P.C. Kanjilal

Lagerstroemia minuticarpa Debb. ex P.C. Kanjilal is a deciduous tree classified as a nationally protected level- 2 wild plant, as documented in ‘List of National Key Protected Wild Plants in China’.The sequenced chloroplast genome had a total of 152,183 bp in length that formed a quadripartite structure containing a large single-copy region (LSC) of 84,009 bp, an 16,924 bp in small single-copy region (SSC), and a pair of inverted repeats (IRs) of 25,625 bp each. The complete L. minuticarpa chloroplast genome included 133 genes, among them 85 are protein-coding genes (PCG), 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes.A phylogenomic analysis as performed using the complete chloroplast genome sequences of Lagerstroemia minuticarpa and 22 other Lagerstroemia species, with Duabanga grandiflora as outgroups at an amount of 38 chloroplast genomes in total,with additional 213 loci sequence selected from the chloroplast genomes.
