The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school.The two siving items in this series are probably the second and third of an original three. The earlier of these volumes was commenced between October, 1903 and December, 1904. It contains retrospective entries for enrolments current at that time (of which the earliest dates from August, 1896), and continued in use until the end of 1958. The later volume records enrolments from 1959 until the closure of the school in 1965.These volumes contain information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name, date of birth and religious denomination; date of leaving previous school and class in that school. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade, date of leaving the school and the reason assigned for leaving are also recorded.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission. Entries in the earlier volume are numbered in two distinct sequences: 1-340 (boys) and 1-350 (girls), the current numbering of the pre-1904 entries evidently having been applied at the time of their transfer to this volume. Numbering of the entries in the later volume begins anew at the commencement of each school year, and the last two digits of the year-number are suffixed to each entry-number. In this volume boys’ and girls’ entries are numbered in a single, consolidated sequence.A Circular to Teachers, dated the 8th June, 1940, has been inserted inside the back cover of the volume.
