To probe the genetic basis of hygienic behavior in Africanized honeybees and disseminate the knowledge generated for application to marker-assisted selection, helping to rise the productivity of beekeepers not only in the state of Sao Paulo, but the entire country, and so diffuse (through a public research institution in Sao Paulo) queens selected for resistance to diseases, to avoid the need for using chemicals and the consequent risk of contamination of bee products or generate resistance by bees.
