Systematic
investigation of combustion energies for popular metal–organic
framework materials reveals energy content comparable to conventional
energetic materials, which can be further modified and fine-tuned
through the control of framework topology or isostructural ligand
replacement to yield energy densities comparable to conventional energetic
materials such as trinitrotoluene and hydrazine-, diesel-, or kerosene-based
fuels.
