Exploring the Influence of Self-Esteem and Family Communication on Social Network Addiction in Peruvian Higher Education Students

This dataset contains survey data from 353 Peruvian university students collected between January and February 2024 to examine the relationship between self-esteem, family communication, and social media addiction. It includes measures of self-esteem (Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, 10 items), family communication (Family Communication Scale, 10 items), and social media addiction (Social Media Addiction Questionnaire, 24 items, with dimensions of obsession, lack of control, and excessive use), along with sociodemographic variables (age, sex, marital status, university type, and religious affiliation) and patterns of social media use (platform preference, access device, and daily usage time). All data are anonymized, coded using Likert-type scales, and suitable for statistical analyses, including correlational and structural equation modeling, in the context of higher education students.
