Comparative genomics of Nitrosotalea. Comparative genomics of Nitrosotalea

To increase understanding of Ca. Nitrosotalea evolution and physiology, four Ca. Nitrosotalea genomes were compared at the species and genus level to the genomes of nineteen other Ammonia-oxidizing Archaea. Orthologous gene families were examined to identify a core set of gene families present in Ca. Nitrosotalea and absent in all other AOA. Core genes were examined phylogenetically to identify those that were likely aquired via horizontal transfer. Metatranscriptomic and proteomic data were used to verifiy the expression of Nitrosotalea-specific core gene families.
