Overview:
This replication package provides all publicly available data along with code and instructions required to reproduce the empirical results of the research paper. The data is sourced from numerous household and individual level country survey data which are harmonized for analysis. These data are utilized to construct an objective measure of corruption in the public sector for a broad spectrum of countries using consumption-income gaps for public sector workers relative to private sector workers.
The package was created to allow independent verification of the statistical findings reported in the paper. Processed and shuffled data are included for confidential sources in order to fulfill confidentiality agreements and minimize user friction.
