Australian Pedogenons in the Global Context

This dataset contains reclassified pedogenon maps for Australia, developed to compare a National Pedogenon Map (NPM) with a clipped Global Pedogenon Map (CGPM). To enable comparison within a common framework, pedogenon classes from the CGPM were translated into the NPM classification system using two approaches: (i) weighted closest centroid - CGPM_AUS_weighted_ccentroid.tif(ii) dominant centroid - CGPM_AUS_dominant_centroid.tif These outputs represent two alternative methods for aligning global pedogenon classes with their closest Australian equivalents, enabling assessment of agreement and differences between the datasets. A corresponding reclassification of the global pedogenon map into Australian classes is shown in GPM_dominant.png. The final raster output is GPMtoNPM_dom.tif, with the associated colour scheme provided in pedoAU_color.csv.
