Transcriptome of wild and captive Amblema plicata

We sequenced and annotated the transcriptome of the freshwater mussel Amblema plicata (Bivalvia: Unionidae) to determine how translocation from the wild into captivity alters gene expression. Mussels were collected from the Muskingum River in Ohio, USA and brought into captivity at a zoo facility. RNA was extracted from gill tissue collected 11 months post translocation from mussels in captivity and the Muskingum River. RNA was sequenced on the Illumina HiSeq 2500 and transcripts were assembled de novo using Trinity.
