Planococcus koreensis Genome sequencing and assembly

A soil isolate of Planococcus koreensis was sequenced using nanopore minion technology as part of a Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) focused on characterizing bacterial pigments. The assembled genome contains one circular contig with 3,519,105 base pairs, 3903 identifiable genes, and 47.63% GC content. This discovery is in contrast to the incomplete 22 contig chromosome currently available on NCBI.
