Alcohol, fatigue and speeding crashes 1996 - 1998 : focus report

This report provides a profile of alcohol, fatigue and speed related crashes within the southern region. This regional profile covers the three year period 1996 to 1998. Both inter and intra regional comparisons are provided along with details of the crash characteristics. Within the southern region 35% of all crashes involved at least one of the factors of alcohol, fatigue of speeding. These factors have long been recognised as high risk behaviours associated with crashes and therefore are continually targeted within the behaviour strategies. This report aims at providing a profile of crahses involving these factors within the southern region allowing a deeper understanding of the problems which in turn will assist in the development of strategies within the road safety program in the region.

本报告针对南部地区与酒精、疲劳及超速相关的交通事故展开概况分析。本次区域研究覆盖1996至1998年的三年周期，既提供了区域内与跨区域的对比分析，也详细阐述了交通事故的各类特征。在南部地区全域范围内，35%的交通事故均涉及酒精、疲劳或超速这三类高风险因素中的至少一项。上述因素长期以来被认定为与交通事故高度相关的高危行为，因此始终是道路交通安全行为干预策略的核心靶向目标。本报告旨在系统梳理南部地区涉及上述风险因素的交通事故概况，以深化对该类道路安全问题的认知，进而辅助该地区道路安全项目中相关策略的制定与优化。
