Turkish Ethnomedicinal Database (TEMDB)

The Turkish Ethnomedicinal Database (TEMDB) is a curated and standardized database of medicinal plant and ethnoveterinary use-reports documented in ethnobotanical studies conducted in Türkiye. TEMDB was developed to harmonize heterogeneous ethnomedicinal data and facilitate systematic evaluation, comparison, and reuse of published traditional knowledge.The database includes information on reported plant taxa, local names, plant parts used, preparation methods, routes of administration, reported uses, and associated disease or use categories. Taxonomic nomenclature and ethnomedicinal terminology were standardized, and reported health conditions were systematically classified using the International Classification of Diseases 11th Revision (ICD-11), where applicable.Version 1.0 represents the standardized TEMDB dataset covering ethnobotanical studies published during 2018–2020. Individual records and associated information are publicly accessible through the TEMDB web interface. The complete dataset file is maintained as a restricted-access archival version on Zenodo. Access to the complete dataset may be granted upon reasonable request for academic and research purposes.Users of TEMDB are requested to cite the database and the corresponding Zenodo record when data obtained through the database are used in scientific publications or other scholarly outputs.
