Investigation of multi-omics signatures and predictive biomarkers underpinning chronic lung allograft dysfunction

Lung transplantation saves lives. However, every transplanted lung will eventually fail over time, and doctors are currently unable to predict when that will happen. This uncertainty results in poor patient survival. My PhD focused on discovering early signals of failure in the transplanted lung. In my research, I have discovered key compounds able to predict lung failure up to a year prior to its manifestation. My research can be developed into new clinical tests that can help doctors intervene in time to prolong the life of the patient, and turn lung transplantation into a true life-long saving treatment.
