Goals: To quantify gas-phase product yields and the SOA yield from nighttime NO3-initiated chemistry of a-pinene using N2O5.Summary: a-pinene, NOx, and seed aerosol were injected into the chamber and allowed to mix, followed by N2O5, which quickly dissociated to NO2 and NO3. a-pinene decayed rapidly by reaction with NO3. Additional additions of N2O5 were conducted as a-pinene was left unreacted after the first. Gas phase was monitored by CF3O- CIMS and particle formation by SMPS.
