We reported that the miR319/TaGAMYB3 module controls plant architecture and grain yield in common wheat. We demonstrated that repressing tae-miR319 by short tandem target mimics (STTM) in wheat resulted in favorable plant architecture including increased plant height, reduced tiller number, significantly larger spikes and flag leaves, and thicker culms, and enhanced grain yield in field plot test. In contrast, overexpression of tae-miR319 had opposite effects on plant architecture and grain yield.
