NRS-14091 | Collector of Internal Revenue - Letters received from the Colonial Secretary

These letters mostly deal with policies and regulations to be observed by the Collector as desired by the Governor. There are a few letters sent by other Departments or Officers to the Colonial Secretary, who forwarded them on to the Collector because they related to his duties, etc. The first letter in this series (No.1) deals with the appointment of James Busby as the first Collector of Internal Revenue. A description of his salary and duties is given. On 12 October 1829, Busby was succeeded by William McPherson who held the office until December 1835, when all matters dealt with by the Collector were taken over by the Revenue Branch of the Treasury.(4/9-12). 4 vols.
