Suitability of Panoramic Photographs for Developing Structure-from-Motion Models

This project examines the possibilities and limitations associated with using panoramic images to develop structure-from-motion models with the photogrammetry software Pix4DMapper. The documents created from this project are intended to be used by anyone considering how they want to create structure-from-motion models. The information in this project will help researchers decide whether panoramic images are appropriate for their goals and what software settings should be used. This project is unique in that structure-from-motion models are usually developed with images from non-panoramic cameras mounted onto drones. This project explores the use of spherical cameras mounted onto cars or backpacks as a mean of data collection for models.
本项目针对利用全景图像结合摄影测量软件Pix4DMapper构建运动恢复结构(structure-from-motion)模型的相关可能性与局限性展开探究。本项目产出的文档可供所有计划开展运动恢复结构模型构建工作的人员参考使用。本项目所提供的信息将助力研究人员判定全景图像是否适配其研究目标,以及应当采用何种软件参数配置。本项目具有独特性:当前运动恢复结构模型的构建通常依赖搭载于无人机的非全景相机所采集的图像。本项目探索了搭载于汽车或背包的球形相机作为模型构建数据采集手段的应用路径。
