Data from a Blank Area Testing at Manthorn Farm and Land Parcels (AC250), Buckinghamshire, 2020-2021 (HS2 Phase One)

This collection comprises text documents, spreadsheets, images, and GIS data from Blank Area Testing undertaken by INFRA Archaeology on seven land parcels between Quainton and Brackley, Buckinghamshire, from November 2020 to February 2021. The investigation sought to assess "No-Data" land parcels with the aim of identifying evidence of early prehistoric and early medieval activity within topsoil and ploughsoil horizons. Artefact clusters, if present, were to be considered potential indicators of ephemeral archaeological evidence from these periods. No archaeological features or deposits were identified in any of the excavated test pits. Most artefacts recovered were discarded on-site, with only three pieces of worked flint retained. Two of these suggest Mesolithic or Early Neolithic activity, while the third is broadly dated to the prehistoric period.
