Research: Sparrow et al. (2011) have provided evidence about the harmful effects of external information storage on peoples’ memory. We verify whether this phenomenon also applies to consumers’ price knowledge. In line with the findings of Sparrow et al (2011), our replication study shows that consumers who believe they will have access to price information show less price recall than a control group who believes the same information has been deleted. Data set: Dataset consisting of 401 US-based MTurk workers participating in a price recall task. Questionnaire: Attached
