A high quality genome for Mus spicilegus, a close relative of house mice with unique social and ecological adaptations

In this study we produced the first genome assembly, transcriptome assembly, and annotation for the M. spicilegus. This produced a highly complete and continuous assembly which was estimated to be 99% complete. In addition, this project demonstrates that highly accurate and complete genomes can be produced from the combination of 10x genome assemblies and RNA-seq at a cost effective rate. This data should facilitate further analysis of mouse genome diversity and proof of concept for high quality mammalian genome assembly with read cloud genome sequencing.
