The 11K Hands dataset was created by the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Lassonde School of Engineering, York University. It contains 11,076 hand images for gender recognition and biometrics research. The dataset covers 190 individuals with diverse ages and skin tones, where dorsal and palmar images of both left and right hands were captured for each participant. Detailed metadata is recorded for each image, including gender, age, skin tone and other relevant information. During the dataset creation, video capture and structural similarity analysis were employed to ensure image quality.
