资源简介:
Per A/3C 84 is a radio galaxy coinciding with the BCG of the Perseus galaxy cluster NGC 1275. Its jets interact with the intra-cluster gas in the central region of the cluster creating features in the X-ray image of the cluster. This object is clearly detected by Fermi in the GeV range thus raising new questions on the nature of its emission. Indeed several processes can be responsible for the emission detected in the GeV range. In the hard X-ray band the source was clearly detected by INTEGRAL up to ~80 keV in a 500 ksec observation and the high-energy signal was found to be significantly variable. We propose a 1 Msec observation of NGC 1275 with INTEGRAL split into 5 distinct 200 ksec observations in order to analyse the variability of the source simultaneously with Fermi observations. In addition simultaneous Swift observations are asked to cover the soft X-ray and optical bands. The allocated time will also allow us to constrain the presence or not of a cut-off in the spectrum of this object and therefore distinguish between the synchrotron and inverse-Compton models for the hard X-ray emission of this source. We request the data only for the Perseus cluster/NGC 1275 source. [truncated! Please see actual data for full text]
