2009 Ice Watch Joint Ocean Ice Study (JOIS) Sea Ice Observation Program

The cruise occurred September 16 to October 15, providing a snapshot of ice conditions at the end of the 2009 melt season and a perspective of the start of freeze-up throughout the Beaufort Sea. Caution should be taken in comparing the 2009 to other years (2006-2008), as the 2009 cruise occurred a month later in the season than previous cruises and we experienced the beginning of the freeze season. Ship-based sea ice observation data collected along the CCGS Louis S.
