Fall 2005 grasshopper monitoring -- mid-marsh grasshopper abundance and species diversity at eight GCE LTER sampling sites

Grasshopper abundance and species diversity were investigated at eight sampling sites within the Georgia Coastal Ecosystems (GCE) LTER study area in August 2005. Visual surveys were conducted along 8 2m by 10m transects randomly allocated within the mid-marsh zone at each site. All grasshoppers observed within each transect were counted and identified to species, if possible. This survey was conducted as part of the GCE invertebrate monitoring program, and will be performed annually to assess long-term changes in relative species abundances across the GCE study area.2005年8月，研究人员对佐治亚海岸生态系统（Georgia Coastal Ecosystems，GCE）长期生态研究（Long Term Ecological Research，LTER）区域内的8个采样点开展了蝗虫种群丰度与物种多样性调查。在每个采样点的中潮沼泽带内，沿随机布设的8条2米×10米样带开展目视调查。对每条样带内观察到的所有蝗虫进行计数，并尽可能鉴定至物种水平。本次调查作为GCE无脊椎动物监测计划的一部分，将按年度持续开展，以评估GCE研究区域内蝗虫物种相对丰度的长期变化趋势。
