YFGU Nest Monitoring on Isla Alcatraz, Bahía Kino, Sonora, Mexico

On the 1st ,7th , 18th, and 25th of April 2008, Yellow-footed Gull nests were counted and number of eggs and chicks per nest per “zone” were quantified on Isla Alcatraz, Bahía Kino, Sonora, Mexico, by senior project student Abram Fleishman. On the 1st and 7th only the beach areas of the lower bajada were counted. On the 18th the entire lower bajada was counted. On the 25th only the “south” section was counted very quickly and thus many of the birds did not flush. The dataset contains the following variables: Date, Time Start, Duration (min), Observer, Temperature, Wind speed and direction, Sky, Section (zone), # Nests with adult but no eggs or chicks, # Nests with 1 egg, # Nests with 2 eggs, # Nests with 3 eggs, # Nests with 7 egg, # Nests 2 egg/1 chick, # nests with 1 egg/2 chicks, # Nests 3 chicks, # Nests that the adult did not flush, Section total nests, Island total nests.
